Hawaii has the greatest diversity of plant and animal life than any other state. Hawaiians are working very hard to keep snakes out of the islands. Once introduced, snakes can wipe out all the bird life. Snakes prey on bird eggs in the nests of trees. The South Pacific island of Guam suffered the introduction of snakes. That island is now birdless.
